MDBA 2011 Graduate Program

Our graduate program offers exciting opportunities for professional development. Over 11 months, you will work alongside experts in three key areas, and receive training to equip you for the challenges of water and environmental management in the 21st century.
The MDBA Graduate Program includes:
- a combination of both on and off the job training to give Graduates the solid foundation needed for a career within the Authority.
- participation in the APSC Small Agencies Graduate Development Program which will develop core generic skills. Graduates will gain their Diploma of Government through this program;
- participation in internal and/or specialist training courses which will create a customised skill set required by the Authority;
- one work rotation may be external with a relevant Authority stakeholder or similar Public Service agency;
- a field tour of some Murray-Darling Basin sites to provide an appreciation of systems and challenges in the management of the Murray-Darling Basin and it’s resources;
- teaming up with a buddy and a mentor; and
- networking opportunities to develop team working skills, facilitate better working relationships, engender a spirit of cooperation and contributing to of a larger strategy.
We are particularly interested in graduates qualified in:
- engineering;
- law;
- social science, focusing on socioeconomic planning and research.
Graduates in environmental science fields are also encouraged to apply.

Application procedures
Applications for MDBA’s 2011 graduate program will open on Thursday 1st April 2010 and close on Monday 31 May 2010. Please submit your application through our online application system during this period. In the meantime, if you would like to put forward an expression of interest to apply for the graduate program, go to the MDBA website.

Selection for the Graduate Program will be based on merit. You will be assessed against prescribed selection criteria which are specified in the online application form.
Shortlisting to assess your suitability for the program will be based on all or some of the following:
- your online application;
- your academic results;
- results of an online test;
- a phone interview.
Final selection will be based on an interview and practical exercises within an assessment centre. If you are selected to take part in the assessment centre, we will contact you in late July 2010.
