2011 DBCDE Graduate Program

The Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy is inviting high-performing graduates to join its team and help manage the Australian Government’s priorities for:
- the National Broadband Network
- regional telecommunications
- the switchover to digital television
- cyber-safety and security
- broadcasting
- communications
- spectrum management
- digital innovation
- a range of consumer issues relevant to empowering consumers of broadband, telecommunication and online services.
As well as providing the Australian Government with economic, legal and policy advice on these ever-evolving areas, the Department administers regulations, funding, programs, support and other incentives to industry and the wider community.
The Department's Graduate Program is for tertiary qualified graduates. The Department will permanently engage all successful candidates, who will complete an 11 month program commencing in early 2011. The program includes extensive training and skills development.
Graduates will receive both formal and informal training, as well as on-the-job learning and development across the Department. Workplace rotations give graduates opportunities to experience a wide range of policy and program work.
Features of the program include:
- a thorough orientation program
- three work placements of 15 weeks duration
- a comprehensive training schedule, covering a number of core modules
- the opportunity to contribute to policy development, program management and administration
- a quality mentoring and buddy program
- high quality individual support. You won't just be a number!
Graduates will be employed permanently by the Department, after completing the program.
All graduate positions are located in Canberra and reasonable costs of relocation are met by the Department.

- completion of a Bachelor's Degree by January 2011
- Australian citizenship, or have permanent residency and currently being considered for citizenship
